RESTING AT RUSTY'S?

From 2010 Rusty's
This weekend we stayed at Rusty's RV Ranch in Rodeo, NM. Monday morning we left for the slightly larger town of Columbus, NM, for an SKP Rally. We were at Rusty's because it is quiet, we've already done most of the sightseeing around here on previous visits, and Suzy neeeded time to catch up on her Chapter Treasurer's work. Reason? She has to present a financial report at the rally, and there are too many distractions at home to get the job done.

Our arrival at Rusty's was heralded by the local family of geese who put on a dance routine for us. We put on our own little dance to celebrate being back on the road, if only for a couple of weeks,

Rusty's is a small park (40 sites) with very large plans. There'll be a big new club house, several more acres developed for RV sites, the dusty roads will be graveled. And scenic? They claim a 360 degree mountain view, and they exaggerate by only about 15 degrees. To the west are the rugged Chiricahua Mountains of Arizona, and to the south and east lie the more gently molded Peloncillos. Some of these pictures, the ones with clouds, were actually taken last year. This year the sky was perfectly clear.

We took a little time one evening for something we don't do nearly often enough: we had ourselves a campfire.

So now we are at the rally. We are expecting more than 30 rigs here for the four day meet. We'll tell you more about it as we work our way through this event in ... Our Life on Wheels,

  4. Your stay at Rusty's brings back fond memories for me from our stay there last year at the end of October. As you know, we are not RV Park people, but we did like Rusty's. I remember Rusty telling us about that Park expansion & I thought that was kinda too bad. Park is nice the way it is. Sounds like it could end up being just another run of the mill large crammed in RV Park.
Say Hello to Columbus NM for us & Pancho Villa State Park. Enjoyed our 3 visits to Columbus. That is where we got snowed on 4 years ago.

  5. Great looking RV Park with spectacular views of the mountains. I remember Al writing about it last year and thought it must be good because he seldom stays in an RV Park.

Nice to have a campfire in the evening too!
