Happy New Year

It's Happy New Year time, friends and family! We hope your 2009 will be happy, productive and satisfying! Let's add healthy, too!

Monday we "took down" Christmas and got everything stored away for yet another year. This week we are going to be busy little retirees: we're assembling and installing a couple of cabinets to serve as a bar center. They are actually bathroom cabinets, but they were the only ones we could find that would fit in the tight space available. They are made from bamboo wood, and their light color closely matches the frame of Suzy's piano sitting in the same alcove.

When we get that done, we have lighting to install. In the first stage of our casita makeover, we put up a temporary ceiling fixture that was adequate for sitting around, but definitely not enough for our desk area. So the first step now will be track lighting over the desk with four halogen lights that are individually adjustable to shine where we need them.

Next we will be replacing the central light fixture with a ceiling fan that has three lights.

We have invited a few folks over for dessert Saturday evening. We certainly hope we can have the casita in decent shape by then. Friday morning we are both working propane again, and we both want to get haircuts before 2009, so our time is not totally free before Saturday evening. We may delay the fan fixture until next week.

When we get some of these things completed, we'll send you pictures!

By the way, we received a comment on our last blog posting from a David McMahon in Australia. He's signed up as a new "follower" of our blog, so now we have gone international! However, instead of publishing David's comment to the blog, we accidentally deleted it! Welcome, David; if you read this post, please leave us a little more information about you, so we can know who you are!

Until till then, although we are staying put a while, we keep living ... Our Life on Wheels.

  1. Hi Jerry & Susie,

Glad to hear that you all are having a great time and may the New Year be a great time for both of you! Just wanted to let you know that I fixed your Apple Burritos twice for Christmas and after Christmas breakfasts! Love it! Both time we served with Champagne! Our grandson thought it was like eating Apple Pie for breakfast! Again you two take good care of yourself and when Gene and I get to AZ, we will give you a call.

    Love,

  2. Hope you get all your work done in time for your party. But, if you don't, what the heck,,,there is always "manana" ! Thats the first word I learned down here. I thought at first it meant Tomorrow. I Soon learded that was WRONG. It just means LATER, tomorrow, the next day or maybe even next week!!!:-)

Happy New Year to you folks!

  5. Reply to Joy and Phil, no he didn't say how he found us, and we'd love to know.
Now notice, if you will, a reader from Canada says (s)he has been with us longer. This one is anonymous, so all we can say is -- delighted to have you with us, all of you readers.
